Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal is the fifth installment in the Doom first-person shooter video game series, developed by id Software.
The sequel to 2016’s Doom was released on March 20, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and Google Stadia. It will be released on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch on December 8, 2020.
Compared to its predecessor, melee combat has been expanded to include fistfights, and a flamethrower is also included. For the first time, players can choose between different fire modes for weapons. Damage inflicted on enemies is now also visually visible through gaping wounds and shattered armor. The game’s pace has increased compared to Doom (2016), partly due to the introduction of jumps. Furthermore, the game mechanics have been expanded to include weak points on enemies compared to its predecessor. The pistol is no longer part of the weapon arsenal, but there are some new weapons and gadgets like a shotgun grappling hook.
Doom Eternal’s multiplayer mode does not feature a deathmatch, but rather a battle mode in which two player-controlled demons fight against a Doom Slayer.
The paid download expansion The Ancient Gods – Part One was released on October 20, 2020. It includes three new single-player levels and a revamped multiplayer mode.
